I've never had a problem with the Halo controls. You also have to take into account that Chief never actually runs in the games; he's always jogging. When you're that much more powerful than the enemy, who needs to run? Also, Mushpie, the charge beam can be jumped over. MC could just take a giant leap and fire a scarab round and maul Samus with its superior blast radius. |
I have no clue what the heck a scarab is, but it seems safe to say that it's an explosive of some sort. I'd like to point out that the Power Suit (and all variations thereof) seems rather resistant to explosions, at least in my admittedly little experience with Metroid games. The only enemy I ever remember using bombs of any kind is Meta-Ridley. He drops fairly big bombs, but even when they're dead-on hits they fail to clear a full energy tank. Energy tanks are another point worth mentioning- You can have what, 15 of 'em? I don't know the exact number, but it's quite a bit, and it seems like Samus could win on endurance alone.
Rock also brings up the excellent point of the Omega Cannon- you don't even have to aim at the person to kill them with it. Of course, you'd have to take great care that you yourself didn't get destroyed by it as well.

 SAMUS(or at least Samus with all the good upgrades) would slotter Master Chief in an open match. Morph ball mode is retardedly fast and can fire Power bombs witch are, I might ad, probably more powerful then many of explosive charges in halo and the wave length of the explosions harm only enemies and not samus unlike the all death scenario of halo blastcharges. not to mention Samus's superior agility and armor variations. Master Cheif is good FOR HIS GAME but given a head to head combat situation Samus Kicks ass

Okay, I guess I can offer my opinion on Samus now. Samus has Chozo-infused blood which enhances her abilities much like the conditioning did to Chief, except no where near the scale. If Chief get's close to Samus, she's dead, even with all of her 14 energy tanks. The scarab gun is a rapid-fire beam gun that shoots a shot that's much like getting hit with a plasma grenade, except repetedly.
But of course, Samus has several ways to get away from this. Her morph ball is approximately one meter in diameter and, while using a boost ball, would be rather hard to hit. Her power bombs also give off quite a lot of damage and the hit radius is very large. I'm fairly certain that Samus' speed booster can outrun MC's sprint and gives her an ability similar to the Juggernaut from X-men in that she can break through solid walls. If all else fails, Samus' space jump is a nifty way of saying, "I can fly." In the Prime games it's just a double jump but in Super Metroid, Metroid Zero Mission, and Fusion it pretty much allows her to fly. Since Fusion is the last one so far chronologically, we will go by that.
All this being said, Samus shouldn't have much of a problem contolling the distance of a fight and when it comes to distance, Samus would win. You can talk all you want about her arsenal of weapons but there's one that immediately makes her superior: The Wave Beam. It's an electrical beam weapon that can go straight through walls, armor, and knock out any electrical devices (screw Cortana!). Since MC's body would just act as an electrical conductor, the beam would home right in on him and go right through his armor for a direct hit. The wave beam is also rapid-fire so MC really has no hope against a weapon that can score consistant direct hits.
