i got a couple cs because i didn't do homework. and ironically enough, they were in subjects i could have been good in! chem and math... man, i didn't do the homework ever. i got as during calc with the same lack of homework because the teacher liked me because i was the only one that really knew what i was doing in the class.
but my school doesn't have grades.
we have "evaluations."
here are some excerpts~
(i'm still missing two of them though. bastards)
| Quote: | | Although she was quiet, her work showed good understanding of most of the scientific concepts and processes presented in the course, and she learned to look at them in broader context. Except for her tardiness in submitting her assignments, Kathryn's scientific writing skills were of high quality and demonstrated strong growth in analytical writing skills. Her reports were always a pleasure to read. Kathryn's final paper was about childhood lead poisoning via domestic lead sources. This paper showed she had learned how to critically examine relevant literature and had improved in the mechanics of scientific writing, organization, and viewpoint. Her oral presentation on this work was well articulated. Overall, this was a superior performance from a talented student. |
(for the record, i handed in one paper late. one. that's it. :<)
| Quote: | | Kathryn is a student who holds herself to exacting standards, who does not feel content with her work until she has truly pushed herself to find new limits. Knowledge of the molecular and biological theories driving our practices were clearly her strongest point, and she eagerly contributed insights that helped to further her peers' understanding. In lab, Kathryn was always excited to get hands-on practice with the techniques our project used. By the end of the term, Kathryn showed dramatically increased proficiency and an improved sense of self-awareness at the bench. While Kathryn is not immediately interested in pursuing an academic career in genetics, her determined spirit and incontestable enthusiasm for laboratory work could undoubtedly, with more practice and experience, carry her far in the field. She was a valuable member our team, and it was a pleasure to work with her. |
the last one wasn't a terrible evaluation, but it wasn't gushing with enthusiasm either. it was like "kathryn blah blah llama blah" _________________

I get an average of Bs and As, depending on the class.
Right now I'm about 2 weeks behind in Government, so I should probably catch up before my mom notices. I'm also like 3 months behind in Chemistry. |

| I've never had straight As, but I'm about to drop half my classes for a reduced schedule so I can sleep in more. The last semester of high school rules. |

In response to Fru's post, the most critical analysis of my performance in class was a little note next to my conduct grade that said, "Disrespectful at times." That happened to come from the only teacher I ever blatantly gave the finger. The others I showed a degree of courtesy to. _________________

all a's and a b+. the b+ was in "power tech," basically a small engine repair class that i hated with a passion and desperately tried to get out of. the teacher is our football team's offensive line coach [layer up for fall] and seriously retarded. he tried to convince me (and almost marked me down for it) that "general" was spelled "genral." i think he hated me almost as much as i hate him. ugh. _________________

just laughed in his face and slowly walked away giggling, then had to come back in 5 minutes and calmly tell him that no, it's not "genral"
to make things worse, this was for a notebook, where the "genral notes" section was the most important section and the most commonly stressed part; he's been doing that class for years... _________________
