I also used to be really picky about how my books and records were put away.

I mean, you should see this place.

Also, this wouldn't be wise, as his eyes would follow you, inevitably making you go crazy and do..ummm........probably something severely fucked up.

Sounds like movie plot goldmine to me.

And so I guess I'm the only person ever who even gives half a shit about Henry Miller.

I'm sure he had a wife or something.

He's a better playwright than Tennesee Williams... but you know what they say about the special olympics.

And Henry Miller didn't even write plays!

!

Oh and in terms of playwrights, fucking Tom Stoppard.

WHOOPS. You're right, I was thinking of Arthur Miller. I think my favorite playwright is Sam Beckett... but I should clarify that I don't really read plays... but then, who does? I'm not sure if I buy a play as a form of literature.

No, it shouldn't count. The performance and production is just as important as the literature, not to mention that most plays are pretty damn boring if you just read them. Of course, when selecting a play for production you have to use your imagination and think of how it would look, but that still doesn't count for shit. I'm rambling.

Tom Stoppard is still fucking awesome. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, The Real Inspector Hound, The Real Thing, he's a swell writer.

So what? I stand by what I said. You can't deny that even Shakespeare's work feels incomplete on the page. A stage play is meant to be performed, not read. I mean, nobody counts screenplays as a form of literature, although they do give awards for them and they are a valid form of writing.

I think he was joking, because Shakespeare is neither American, nor from the 20th century.

No, I wasn't. I wasn't electing him for the list. I'm just pointing out that he's considered like, the king of all things literature, and majority of his works are plays.

A script uses literary devices. It has a plot. It's essentially a novel or short story written in a different format. I don't see why it's not literature.
