It's a good thing that you've contributed to a thread about Ozzfest, then. I'm always interested in your opinion on things you aren't interested in, Sharp.
And in conclusion, Ozzfest's lineup is weak this year... it probably has something to do with the ticket price.

Do you really? Considering what you've said in just this post, I find it hard to believe that you hate it very much in any case except for people calling bands "metalcore." What's the level of sonic difference that distinguishes a legitimate genre (since you clearly accept "metal" to be one, despite its roots in rock) from a mere "splintering?" Would you also hate it if I called Mayhem "black metal" or DragonForce "power metal?" I'm not interested in starting an argument about whether or not Lamb of God are metalcore or not, I'm really just curious about this. _________________ Married to Terri.
They may have more metal influence than most metalcore bands but they are still certainly metalcore. Metalcore = metal with hardcore influences or visa versa.

Lordi is at ozzfest. Ozzy doesn't scream in what little I've heard of him. This is, in fact, something I've been interested in for several months now. But by all means, keep telling me how much you don't care about what I think. I'm always interested in your opinion on things you aren't interested in, Dodger.

How dare you turn my own words against me in a manner that fails to make any sense whatsoever.
And it's not that I don't care what you think, Sharp. It's that you have a history of contributing to threads just to tell us that you don't know anything about the subject.
Also, I'm interested in the genre game. Sometimes I feel I'm in the minority, in that I think that musical genres are a useful mechanism. They help clarify what sort of music a particular artist plays (duh!). Perhaps my fondness for labels comes from working in radio for so long, but I hear a lot of spouting about how genres are worthless and bands get "pigeonholed" into a certain type of music. Well, imagine that! If a band plays a certain style of music, people might expect them to play that sort of music in the future?!
I think a lot of complaints about "labelling" music come from musicians themselves, who like to think of themselves as totally unique, unhindered by any bourgeois musical movement.
"So, what sort of music does your band play?"
"It's really hard to describe in words, man. You probably wouldn't get it."

Yes, but I wasn't. I was saying that I did know something about some of the bands, and that I didn't like the others screaming. I mislabeled them, and went and acknowledged a mistake, and you think you can just go and take the opportunity to take what I'm saying out of context and put me down. It's not even subtle any more. There are a lot of great people on this board, but I'm sick of constantly having to double check my posts for anything that could give you an excuse to come in and call me an idiot. Recently, I've tried to be friendly, agree with the bunch of you on topics, but it still doesn't work. I've put up with this for a long time. I'm not telling you to go to hell. I'm not calling you stupid. I'm just saying, if I didn't insult you personally, spam, or flame, just keep it to yourself.

QFT.
Too many subgroups.

How can anyone take a post seriously when it starts with "HOW DARE YOU."
Sharp has a point. Just because he doesn't like non-singing bands doesn't mean that's all that's involved with Ozzfest. We all know he's a big Lordi fan and this is huge for them. So he has a stake in posting in this topic. So yeah. Shut up.
Also, sharp. Stop fucking WHINING. Jesus christ. _________________ I'M A TARD

I didn't know this was going to turn into a thread about our feelings. I was just fucking around, Sharp. I didn't call you an idiot (as others flat-out did). I wasn't insulting you or "putting you down". I didn't even bear you ill will. I also did not take your words "out of context", so you should learn what that means before you accuse people of it.
I was just fun of how you give us your take on things that you don't actually care about. How many threads have we had about music, where you've felt the need to pipe in and say "Hey, I've never heard of that band." It doesn't bother me, but it is ridiculous, and I see no harm in poking fun. Here's the rundown:
1. This thread is about Ozzfest.
2. Most of the bands at Ozzfest are heavy metal bands with rough vocals that Sharp doesn't like.
3. Sharp contributes to the thread because he is a huge Lordi fan.
3. But, Sharp knows jack about any of the other music at the festival, and says as much, yet he decides to let his opinions about them flow anyway, making foolish comments in the process which he has to go back and correct.
4. I make a sarcastic comment, not about the fact that he didn't know what screamo was, but about the fact that he bothered trying to discuss it in the first place.
5. Sharp turns my words around on me in a way that doesn't make the least sense.
6. I make another sarcastic comment.

My point exactly. I guess I didn't lay the irony on thick enough on that one.
7. DR. PHIL SHOW

Good plan, Sharp. The next time that you sound like a complete dumbass, I'm sure we'll all be nice enough not to say anything. Thanks, though, for taking all your general frustrations out on me personally because you have no sense of humor. Dick.
So yeah, with Chtnonic(spl?) being the only black metal band up there, I'm going to have to see their set.
Also I plan to wear the Sleep Terror shirt that I will be pre-ordering soon.
It will be my first actual "band shirt", 'cause I don't really think AC/DC and Pink Floyd count.
