Ouch. You've got me there.
Speaking of heavy metal t-shirts, I probably need to throw away my old Type O Negative t-shirt.
PROS:
Red.
Badass werewolf on it.
CONS:
Faded.
Mild Pitstainage.
Hole in seam of collar.
Was never into Type O Negaive that much in the first place. |

Code redemption for Boston is a 3PM, right when I get out of work. It takes roughly 20 mins to get home.
EDIT: seems more appropriate.
DOUBLE EDIT: It took two hours to finally get them. Section 11 at the Tweeter Center in Boston.
I hope my friend got better ones. |

| Yeah... it isn't. The lawn section is at the very back. Mine are just in front of the lawn section. I guess I can't really complain though. If you had to pay this year those are the seats I'd probably get anyway because the prices would be so high. |

I'd have gotten better seats, but my mom decided today would be the day she hogs up the computer despite that she has a laptop. _________________ I'M A TARD |

OZZFEST SUMMARY TIIIIIIIIME~~!!!
Got to Mansfield (not Boston) around 11. Waited in "line", which was really just a huge mass of people outside the gates. At 12 the gates opened, we (myself and my friend, Nate) went to the second stage area.
Second Stage: (Set changes were approx 5 mins.) 12:30 - The Showdown: They sucked. During the second song I turned around and saw Scott from Zircon. We had previously hung out at Zircon's merch table at Summer Slaughter, so he recognized us. We talked for a few minutes and then he gave us some stickers and flyers to plaster up and hand out, respectively. At the end of Ozzfest half the trash cans and some of the bathroom mirrors had Zircon stickers, haha.
12:55 - Nile: Fucking awesome. 4 songs from 4 albums. I think the first was Sacrifice Unto Sebek. Then the title track from Ithyphallic, Sarcophagus from In Their Darkened Shrines, then title track from Black Seeds of Vengeance. Dallas' and Karl's vocals sounded exactly like they did on the albums, the sound was really clear. Headbanging ensued. I only wish Karl had used his signature guitar with the spear-head(stock), but the counterpart double-neck was nice too.
1:20 - Ankla: Boring. We went to put up more stickers and got some fried dough for lunch. The announcer guy, Dave, had a challenge for himself where if he didn't say "fuck" for the entire day he'd get a free full body massage.
1:45 - Chthonic: They were pretty good, I'm glad at least one other band with black metal influences got to play (besides Behemoth). The parts with the Erhu (Chinese violin?) were pretty catchy.
2:10 - In This Moment: I was surprised I liked them more than I thought I would(n't). The breakdowns were lame, but the lead singer could sure belt it out. Plus she was hot.
2:35 - Daath: Mediocre death metal/avant garde band. Boring.
3:00 - 3 Inches of Blood: Awesome, pump your fist in the air, headbanging metal. This was probably my favorite performance of the day. I would have bought the CD at the FYE booth but the line was too fucking long. The singer's name is very appropriate, haha.
3:25 - Devildriver: Meh. They played that one song from the Daredevil movie soundtrack. This is the part where the crowd was encouraged to get more rowdy. A few bumps as the pit widened. The best part was during the set change beforehand where Dave (announcer guy) set some "strict rules" where girls on top of someone's shoulders had to show their boobs. A couple girls were escourted to the front and made out with each other topless. Oh, and Dave lost the challenge.
4:00 - Behemoth: I didn't care for Nergal's vocals much. Other than that they were pretty enjoyable. The second guitarist broke a stage blood packet in his mouth at some point during the last song. Dave gave away the towel with "Behemoth blood" afterwards.
4:40 - Hatebreed: Ugh. Toughguy Hardcore. Cue all the hardcore dancing faggots! Around the second song Jamie "can't host a show about extreme music to save his life" Jasta announced that "everyone that is standing still during the songs is an enemy and a target!" I think to myself, "Oh.. shit!" I'm glad I was a few people outside of the edge of the circle nearest us. About 20 or 30 mins into the set (total of 60 mins) we made our way out of the pit area and up towards the main stage.
Main Stage: (set changes were about 15 - 20 mins) 5:40 - Black Tide: Who are these guys and how did they manage to play the main stage? Lame.
It started raining. We weren't in the covered section.
6:15 - Lordi: The pyrotechnics were pretty cool. The music and "stage antics" were really fucking lame, though. Nothing like seeing a mummy guitarist doing a sped-up duckwalk across the stage. We couldn't tell if the keyboardist was female or male. Creepy. D:
7:15 - Static X: I wasn't aware that it was still the 90's. Apparently spiked hair and "outrageous" song titles like "shitting in a bag" are still cool among the confused, angsty mall youth today. LAME.
8:15 - Lamb of God: It seems that this was the band EVERYONE was there to see. I mean, half the people had LoG shirts on. Didn't their parents teach them it's stupid to wear a band's shirt to that same band's show? I recognized a few songs from As the Palaces Burn. Other than that it was meh. They did start a pretty big circle pit on the lawn area, though. I would have laughed if they tried a wall of death with everyone. Seeing people tripping over the seats would have been funny.
9:30 - Ozzy: The intro short movie with all the parodies was pretty funny. Nate was freezing from the rain so we left shortly after it started. But I saw Ozzy perform Bark At the Moon and Mr. Crowley, so I was happy.
OH GOD TL;DR = 4 or 5 good bands on Second stage, Ozzy was the only good one on Main stage. |
