Yeah, but if it doesn't?

Nope, that's irony. Irony is very indie.

Putting a label on yourself is dumb.

Unless you consider yourself a nerd. 'Cause nerds are cool.

--Try refusing to refer to him as anything but "Dr. Jones" and buy him a Fedora.

That'll teach him.

Better yet, make sure to work the fact that you're "learning to accept his new lifestyle" into any family conversation.

Everyone should buy a Fedora! They keep the head tidy and are quite the fashion!

I wear mine when I'm out. Embarassed

Well, I wear a ponytail most of the time, so I can't say the hat keeps it tidy, but I wear my hand-knitted Russy hat a good deal of the time. America needs to get back to wearing hats.

Everyone does, not just America. Although Fedoras and Stetsuns in particular are what really founded your country, not to mention those soon-to-be-fashionable-again three-pointed hats.

Meh. I was indie in 7th grade. I kinda went:

Classical (Toddler)
Pop (Early elementary school)
Jpop and game remixes (Later elementary school)
Beatles (Overlaps partially with last until end of elementary)
Indie & classic rock (7th and 8th grade)

Nowadays, I just listen to whatever sounds good.

--Oh, don't you dare try to even steer this thread back on-topic!

Anyway, I think there are some hats that aren't doing America any favors:

There's the brain-lock, in which a baseball-style cap is worn backwards. This "style" was named by a university professor I'm friends with who can vouch for the fact that if a student is wearing a ball cap, his brain tends to be closed, but if he's wearing it backwards, it'd dang well locked-- ain't nothing getting into his brain today, no sir.

There's also the extra-tight brain-lock, in which the wearer turns the cap an extra 45 degrees (cap on sideways) for extra security against anything getting in there.

There's also the do-rag or, as my brother called it, the failure cap. Take a good look at anyone wearing one of those. I've honestly never seen a winner in a do-rag. And no, rap videos do not count.

is there any other fashionable headwear that the viewing society here within should be aware of?

The beanie can be very underestimated. People always mistreat 'em and wear 'em too high. They do wonders for your ears. I can't bikeride or look like a sailor in a fedora!

And don't give me that, "WAHH WAHH WAHH MY DO'S GONNA GET MESSED" bull. You shouldn't have long hair anymore. This two-thousand-fucking-six. Get a haircut! Short hair allows for less noticeable time spent without showering.
