I don't see why we can't base society's morals on Humanism. _________________

Actually I KNOW it should be in the vid thread, and it is, but I think it would be a funny to look on the lighter side of the fundie issue.
Thanx all for your support. Ever since 'Rules you have all been so cool concerning my sexuality. Bless you all. Being gay, I have been spat on, bashed into unconsciouness, and even kicked out of my church. Thjroughout all this, I maintained my faith, and God has been good to me. _________________ MY BARF is TASTIER than Yours!!!

agnostic is probably what i am, but somehow i feel loath to actually lump myself in that category. i definitely don't believe in god. i believe in science more so, but not even that completely. buddhism seems to capture my beliefs in the best way, zen's starting to capture my imagination--but i doubt i'm capable of practicing the religion the way it's meant to be practiced.
from what i know of humanism is that it's also kind of abstract, well, at least from skimming the wikipedia article. (it's never been of much interest to me, honestly.) but i think religion fulfills a greater part of society than just morals alone--it's just as important for its social structure and stuff. like in my one class, discussions have been on the role of religion in asian immigrant communities. religion in many ways takes the place of an ethnic identity, and provides a community to those who are moving in, and support from people in the same boat, along with assisting to provide an education in their native culture. protestant communities can also serve as an important meeting point, a support group, shared ideals, whatever. the structure has its uses. _________________

So if you believe in humanism, then they are. |
But people force there beliefs over others, so it's not entirely Humanistic.
I suppose it would need to be change a bit because enforcing Humanism on everyone would be still be forcing a religion/belief on people.
Dammit, it never ends. _________________

karma. It doesn't exist physically but rather is a mind set of society that many of us don't pay attention to. Remaining respectful and mindfull of others and not meaninglessly forceful of others would stop much of the negative energy man
Gay's are Gay and that's what they are, there's no relevance in trying to change that fact. It leads to the production of a negative energy that could quickly envelope others and create hatred man. Like ease up and think about how your thoughts and actions influence others.
If god cared, he would much rather have us be peaceful and mindful rather then obliterating each other over something that has no answer.
